Rugby World Cup 2023 will be hosted by France, this is after the country won the votes of Rugby Council Members,although South Africa had been recommended by World Rugby’s Board but the Council members voted for France.
France was named the host even after finishing second to South Africa in a technical review,
Ireland dropped out in the first round of voting after securing eight votes with France taking 18 and SA 13.
In the second round France won 24 votes and SA only garnered 15 votes.
This came as shock to most of South Africans because it was named as the preferred host nation in October after finishing in top place following a lengthy evaluation process.
This 2023 Rugby World Cup, is scheduled to be the tenth Rugby World Cup, taking place in the year of the 200th anniversary of the legendary ‘invention’ of the sport by William Webb Ellis.Dates of the tournament September – October with about 20 Number of nations participating
Meanwhile the 2019 Rugby World Cup which will be the ninth Rugby World Cup, will be held in Japan from September 20 to November 2
